YouTube Investigation
Apr 25
I’m going to undertake a full evaluation and investigation of YouTube with my children and students to canvass their ideas and views.

This short video was uploaded directly from my mobile phone. What fantastic opportunities… and I managed to do it without happy-slapping anyone!

Nice video. I”m strongly in favor of involving students in the decision of what we ban and what we don’t ban. Hopefully, students will see that the more that is banned the less freedom they have. The less that is banned the more responsibility they have to use it appropriately. With every right comes a responsibility.
Andrew,
I couldn’t agree more!
Totally agree too, but teaching staff and schools who complain that it’s wholly irresponsible to have unrestricted internet access set the precedence for my whole LEA.
We do have limited local control. Our kids fervently search to access Bebo for example. when they did find a hole a few months ago, all classes with IT access were disrupted. Teachers couldn’t stop kids going onto it. Blocking individuals doesn’t work, as we can’t stop kids using each others login.
Some of our teachers prefer to have web access turned off altogether in their classrooms. They just can’t prevent students misbehaving by using it.
I like the idea of giving the descision to students. It would take a lot of trust on behalf of the school, and I know that my Head teacher is far too much of a control freak to ever entertain such an idea.
Hi Peter,
I just dropped you an e-mail. Don’t know if I used the right e-mail address. If not, can you send it to me please?
This log looks very nice man!
see you!
